How We Bring
The Magic
Design tips from our own laundromats.
The thinking behind every product on your shopping list: how we set up each sense in our stores, and one thing you can try this week for each.
The rule behind every tip
Consistency Builds Trust.
Customers should get the same experience no matter which of your stores they walk into. No surprises, no "is it going to be the same?" Pick one of each and use it everywhere.
One color.
The same paint, signs, screens and bags in every store.
One playlist.
Curated by you, never left to whatever is on the radio.
One scent.
The smell customers recognize the second they walk in.
One set of rules.
One clean house rules sign instead of a wall of paper.
01 · Sight
Sight.
The welcome starts before they ever walk through the door.
Start online
Before anyone sees your parking lot, they see your Google Business Profile, your social pages and what people say about you in community Facebook groups.
Try this weekSearch for your store like a stranger would, and fix one thing you don't like.
Find your color
We couldn't find the exact blue we wanted, so we spent an afternoon at Sherwin-Williams and mixed our own. Now it's on every wall in every store.
Try this weekPick one brand color, write down its exact code, and use it everywhere.
Every store looks the same
If you have more than one location, they should all speak the same language: the same sign, colors and layout, so customers know exactly where they are.
Try this weekStand in front of each store and list what doesn't match.
No paper signs
Our eyes are trained on screens. We use digital and video signage only. The only printed pieces are two framed posters, for the card machine and the app, in our colors and fonts.
Try this weekTake down one paper sign.
One house rules sign
One clean acrylic sign replaces 40 sheets of "do this, don't do that." It sets expectations and keeps everyone accountable.
Try this weekGather every rule taped to your walls and put them on one sign.
Show off your capacity
Our biggest machines sit front and center, so customers see right away that we can handle a load of towels or two weeks of laundry for a family of eight.
Try this weekLook at your floor from the front door. What do customers see first?
Eye appeal is buy appeal
Neat stacks sell, just like at a department store. We wrap and bundle every wash and fold order by family member and by size, so it looks like the premium service it is.
Try this weekPhotograph a finished order. Would you be proud to post it?
Make the welcome visible
Friendly messages on the doors (some funny, some bilingual), a well-lit and clean parking lot, and clear striping all say "we're glad you're here."
Try this weekWalk up to your door at night. Is it bright and welcoming?
02 · Sound
Sound.
Every song is chosen on purpose.
Curate every song
The atmosphere should never depend on whatever radio station someone turns on. Music changes how a space feels, so you decide what plays.
Try this weekPick the playlist yourself.
One playlist, every store
We use the same playlist across all locations. It's easier to scale, and customers get the same feel wherever they go.
Try this weekVisit each store and listen. Do they sound the same?
Match the moment
Our playlists change with the time of day and the day of the week, and they're on a schedule, so nobody has to remember.
Try this weekMake a morning playlist and an evening one.
Fix the squeak
Washers, dryers and carts make noise. The squeaky wheel or rattling door doesn't have to be part of it.
Try this weekFix one noise you've gotten used to.
03 · Smell
Smell.
The sense with the strongest emotional pull.
One signature scent
Every one of our stores smells exactly the same, like a high-end hotel lobby. Emotion creates connection, connection creates loyalty, and loyalty brings people back every week.
Try this weekChoose one scent only your stores will have.
Put it on a schedule
Our diffusers turn on 15 minutes before we open and off 30 minutes before we close, and one fill lasts about 90 days.
Try this weekSet your diffuser's schedule so nobody has to touch it.
Scent the laundry, too
Our wash and fold uses its own signature detergent. One customer came back early because she "couldn't smell it anymore." Her comforter visits got more frequent.
Try this weekTest a scented detergent on your wash and fold orders.
Protect the smell
A "no smoking within 25 feet" sign keeps smoke out of the doorway, and we run ozone after hours, only when the store is empty.
Try this weekStand at your entrance and notice what you smell first.

04 · Taste
Taste.
Stock what they love, not what you eat.
Snacks keep them in the store
When customers have a snack and a drink, they stay. When the washer finishes, their load goes straight into a dryer, and the machine is free for the next customer. More turns per day means more money in your pocket.
Try this weekCount how often a finished load sits waiting.
Ask 10 regulars
Give one attendant a simple job: ask 10 regulars what they'd love to see in the vending machine. Your team already knows these customers, so it's an easy conversation.
Try this weekHand this job to an attendant.
A little mess is worth it
Yes, sometimes you'll sweep up chips or wipe up a spilled soda. The extra turns are worth far more than the cleanup.
Try this weekRestock with the top three answers from your regulars.
05 · Touch
Touch.
Remove every friction point, for customers and for your team.
Let them pay their way
Every one of our stores takes card, coin and app. Some customers depend on coins, some never carry cash, so we offer the way they prefer.
Try this weekAsk five customers how they'd rather pay.
A controlled bathroom is a clean bathroom
Our restrooms use fingerprint and keypad locks. Fewer messes, and if something does go wrong, we know who let someone in.
Try this weekCheck how your restroom looks at the end of a busy day.
Doors that open themselves
Automatic sliding doors are an investment, but nobody with an armful of laundry has to fight a door, or the wind.
Try this weekCarry a full basket through your front door and see how it feels.
Save the closest spots
We keep one or two loading-zone spots right by the door for wash and fold drop-offs, so customers never carry heavy bags far.
Try this weekMark one spot by the door for drop-offs.
Make the team's job easier
We cut our cleaning supplies from 9 spray bottles to 2, and replaced the mop with a floor scrubber. Happier team, cleaner floors every night.
Try this weekAsk your team what would make their work easier.
Behind the curtain
Behind The Magic.
Disney has tunnels. We have a warehouse.
Customers experience the magic. Your team runs the systems that make it possible. Here's what we keep on hand so a breakdown never becomes a bad day for customers.

People > laundry
We're In The People Business,
Not The Laundry Business.
You don't have to build Disney. You just have to bring the magic, one small, intentional decision at a time.
